The 'Fruit of the Spirit' - Peace

What is peace? How do we get peace? Something that touches us and fills us so deeply is hard to explain. I do like the dictionary definition on peace:
'freedom from disturbance; quiet and tranquility'

We all like to escape from time to time. Most of the time we escape from everything that distresses us in our everyday. We listen to music, we read a book, we watch a film.....this is all very well, but the truth is that this only takes our minds of our burdens, the distresses of every day, for a short period of time. Before long the weight of everyday life comes back to fruition.
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. - (Romans 15:13) (NLT)
I try so many ways to just get away from everything. But what I've come to realise is that the only way we can receive peace is when we look completely to God and trust in everything he has for our lives. Instead of trying to hide away and ignore our deepest feelings that make us uncomfortable with where we may be in life, perhaps feelings of anger, depression, confusion etc.....we need to turn and find our peace in God.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. - (Philippians 4:6-7) (NLT)
I love that line, 'you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand'! Gods peace is so amazing and so uplifting, it goes beyond our imagination. God's peace sets us free. When we turn and trust in God, his peace begins to fill our hearts. The weight is relieved and all our concerns and worries fade away. Not only that, it prepares us for the days ahead, because when we have peace in our hearts overflowing within us, our minds are open to greater prospects.
I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. - (John 14:27) (NLT)
