The 'Fruit of the Spirit' - Kindness

Kindness seems to be very lost in this modern day society. It seems more often than not that most people are so focused on themselves that they don't put into consideration other people. The thing with kindness is that is should never be forced but natural. Natural kindness is the best sort as it fulfils the person that is kind in a more deeper, meaningful way. Through kindness comes inner comfort but also it radiates and ripples out to all those that are in your thoughts.

What is kindness? -> the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. (Dictionary Definition)

I like this definition. To look at it seems very simple. However, it's incredible how just being friendly, generous and considerate is lost amongst most people. I too can put my hand up and say that I've had times where I have not been very kind at all.
Your kindness will reward you, but your cruelty will destroy you. - (Proverbs 11:17)(NLT)
When we are caring, when we think of others before ourselves, when we look out for others, then there's an immense feeling of satisfaction and tenderness that can be felt within. We often feel that we have done some good. We feel like we've made a difference. It makes us feel happy. But what about those times when we have been the opposite of kindness? What about those moments when we have been hurtful in the things that we have said or the acts we have carried out? This is what we have to look out for. I know I have felt really bad at times when I've said something that has upset someone.
Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. - (Luke 6:35)
It's very easy to fall into arguments. It's very easy to be put down by those that we generally dislike, those that anger us, those that are mean to us. It's very easy to fall to their level. But, and this is a big but, if we stand strong in our faith, our ways and continue to be friendly, continue to be generous and continue to be considerate even when we are being pounded from all sides, then the ripples of our kindness will fan out and take hold of those in our presence.

I have had it at work where I have had to deal with a customer that is complaining about an item they bought. They were shouting in my face and generally not being nice at all. Now it could have been easy for me to just retaliate and be aggressive back. But instead I stayed calm, explained all the solutions, remained friendly and was considerate of their needs. 30 mins later the customer walked out the store happy and satisfied but also they thanked me for being so friendly and considerate of their feelings and general frustrations and apologised for being so aggressive.

Kindness works on so many different levels and has a great impact both on ourselves but also those around us.
Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. - (Ephesians 4:32)
